Sudden silence scare

Posted: 17 days ago
My friend stopped replying during a night out and it honestly had me worried for hours. Everything turned out fine, but it showed me how unprepared I was. Is there a proper way to share or check someone’s location from a phone when both sides agree?

Oh man, the silence when someone stops replying during a night out hits different. My college roommate and I made a pact after one terrifying Saturday — she went quiet for three hours at a bar crawl and I genuinely didn't know whether to call hospitals or just wait. What worked for us: mutual consent location sharing via GEOfinder phone number geolocation no app install, just a number lookup. Both sides agree beforehand, that's the key part. Now it's basically our "I'm alive" backup plan. Took us one scary night to figure out we needed a system. Highly recommend setting it up before you need it.

Having done most of my own diving around Vancouver, dark and murky water was largely the norm and, given that my dive computer did not have an active backlight, I found that I commonly used my dive watch to have a quick look at my elapsed time. My dive computer could be charged with a rolex gold grünes zifferblatt light, but it lasted only a couple of minutes whereas most any decent dive watch would be glowing from the surface swim alone.
