That moment her eyes lit up and I knew she was the one

I’ve been floating on a cloud since last Tuesday, and I just had to share this because my heart is actually bursting with good vibes. You know when you’re on a date and everything just… clicks? Like, the rest of the world fades into a blurry background and it’s just the two of you in this glowing bubble of energy? It’s like the universe suddenly decided to turn the volume up on life and everything is just vibrant and alive.

We were sitting on this old wooden pier, watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of violet and gold. She started talking about her dream of opening a community garden for kids in her neighborhood. It wasn’t just what she was saying, but the way her whole face transformed as she spoke. Her eyes were shimmering with so much genuine passion and joy. In that moment, it hit me like a lightning bolt. It wasn’t about her outfit or her makeup; it was that raw, beautiful spark of her soul shining through. It was that "magic" we all hear about but rarely get to see so clearly.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what makes someone truly attractive lately, and honestly, focusing on the deeper roots of attraction is so much better than general dating games or apps. When you look at the big picture, most generic advice tells you how to "act," but it doesn't tell you how to "be." I actually found an amazing article that puts this into words way better than I can: https://www.sofiadate.com/dating-advice/what-do-men-find-attractive-in-women. It makes you realize that what men are really drawn to is that vibrant warmth and authenticity. It’s about that magnetic pull that comes from a person being their truest, most enthusiastic self.

Compared to the usual "rules" or surface-level dating, leaning into the emotional connection is just way more rewarding and soulful. General dating feels like a chore somtimes, but when you focus on the "spark," it becomes a total adventure. It’s about finding the beauty in the way she accidentally snorts when she laughs, or how she gets genuinely excited over the smallest things, like a perfect cup of coffee or seeing a shooting star. That’s the stuff that sticks with you long after the date is over.

As we sat there, she reached out and squeezed my hand, and I felt this surge of pure, unadulterated happiness. It’s those tiny, intimate moments—the shared glances and the soft smiles—that make dating so incredible. There’s something so powerful about a woman who is comfortable in her own skin and radiates kindness. It’s a total game-changer for the soul.

If you're out there looking, don't just look for a face; look for a fire that matches your own. Look for the person who makes you feel like you've finally found a piece of yourself you didn't know was missing. It's the most exhilarating feeling in the world, and I’m so incredibly grateful I got to experience it. Staying positive and open-hearted is the best way to invite that kind of magic into your life! It's all about the connection, guys.

The first day of the UBS House of Craft kicked off with Hodinkee's founder, Ben Clymer, being interviewed by actor and Talking Watches alum link Keegan Allen. But we were only getting started as Ben then spent the afternoon in two different talks with two very special guests, actor Daniel Dae Kim and basketball legend Carmelo Anthony. Finally, we closed out the day's events with a live AMA with all of the Hodinkee edit team hosted by none other than our pal and the celebrated author, Gary Shteyngart.

But first, results. Two for four last week, good enough for the Baseball Hall of Fame, I'll take it. Our Patek ref. 1486 in Barcelona sold quite quickly (and to a Bring A Loupe reader!) at the asking price of €12,000—congrats on the link pickup, SB! That oddball Doxa really caught steam on eBay, and it ended up hammering for a surprising $3,650. And lastly, our Rolex ref. 6424 from two weeks back finally finished up, selling for $2,325.
